I made it to my next goal! I lost 10kg!

Here is my progress picture, not sure if you can really tell the difference, but I feel different, and so do my clothes!

It took me 20 weeks to lose the weight, 5 more than I thought it would, which I will need to keep in mind when setting my next goal.

<strike>95 kg - New Dress - 22/02/2013</strike>

<strike>90 kg - Pedicure - (Projected - 19/04/2013) Actual - 22/05/2013</strike>

85 kg - Shoes - 03/08/2013

80 kg - Underwear

75 kg - Blythe Doll

70 kg - Swimmers

Because I reached my goal I have booked myself in for a pedicure and manicure on Thursday, which happens to be my birthday! I can't wait to be pampered!

I have decided for my next reward to get a pair of Doc Martens. I've narrowed it down to these two styles...

So (hopefully) in early August I'll have lost 15 kgs, I'll be halfway to my final goal!

So, today is the 19th of April, the deadline I set for loosing 10kg (weighing 90kg).

Did I get there...?

Well, the short answer the is... No. I'm not quite there yet. But, I have still been making progress, I'm just loosing the weight a bit slower than I thought I would.

At the moment I weigh 91.6kg, which means I've nearly lost 8.5kg... Which is nothing to sniff at! I'm only 1.2kg away from the goal, not too bad, eh!

While we're on the subject of goals, here is a pic of me wearing the dress I bought when I reached the last one...

<img src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-RVxCpaobDTE/UXCE5gaKG9I/AAAAAAAAAYk/0XkrM9dNsdo/%25255BUNSET%25255D.jpg width="86" height="320"/>

Looking pretty good, even if I do say so myself!

So, I'm not feeling too discouraged at the moment, I'm going to keep at it and I'll check back with you soon. Teganhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00377235105331992504noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1700767634515879490.post-35717979951488299492013-02-22T17:41:00.001+11:002013-02-22T17:41:38.903+11:00Making Progress!!Well, I am feeling really good today!

When I jumped on the scales this morning I was delighted to see the numbers 94.9 looking back at me. I was delighted because this means I have lost a whole 5 kgs since Christmas.

I'm feeling so motived, I just want to keep going without looking back!

Now that I am in this frame of mind, I want to set some goals to strive for and decide on some rewards for when I reach them.

When setting goals I like to use the S.M.A.R.T system.

I've broken my eventual goal weight of 70 kgs down to seven specific, measurable, attainable mini-goals, which I will set a time (date) to as I go. I have also added rewards for each goal.

<strike>95.00 kg - New Dress - 22/02/2013</strike>

90.00 kg - Pedicure - 19/04/2013

85.00 kg - Shoes

80.00 kg - Underwear

75.00 kg - Blythe Doll

70.00 kg - Swimmers

I like the idea of a new set of swimmers as my final reward because I can't wait to by some pretty swimmers for a slimmer, healthier body!

I'm off to look for that new dress!

To put that in perspective, that is 3 bags of flour...

It's a good feeling!Teganhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00377235105331992504noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1700767634515879490.post-79320420155151436262013-01-29T17:11:00.001+11:002013-01-29T17:13:37.935+11:00Holidays...Don't worry! I haven't given up!

I've just been away on holiday. I went to Huskisson on the New South Wales south coast. I had a great time (it was really hard to come home).

I tried to keep up the exercise while I was away, and went walking most days. It was really hard, especially with views like this...

The hard part was keeping the calories under check, especially when drinking... I have to admit that I had a few days that I well and truly broke the calorie bank... But it's so hard to say no when there is good food and good drink around.

I will just have to make up for it by being extra good now I am home.Teganhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00377235105331992504noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1700767634515879490.post-53893122915693089472013-01-12T09:51:00.001+11:002013-01-29T17:01:17.833+11:00Low Carb Banana and Blueberry Muffins

<img 320="" height="320" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-PVbWxhcbgNQ/UPCYOjEbRPI/AAAAAAAAAVY/bQC5Umm1F48/%25255BUNSET%25255D.jpg width=" />

I had a look around online this morning for a good low carb breakfast muffin recipe and found a few good banana muffins with flax meal and stevia. I don't have any stevia at the moment, and I don't know whether I am 100% happy with the taste of the stuff any way, so I used a little sugar and added fresh blueberries for sweetness.

Don't they look cute and tasty! They ended up being really nice, and only 194 calories per muffin! I had one with a blueberry Chobani and a coffee for breakfast.

Here's the recipe...

Ingredients
1 cups LSA
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tbs Sugar
4 eggs beaten
1/3 cup olive oil
1 cup blueberries
1/2 cup mashed banana
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
1.Preheat oven to 180 degrees
2. In a medium bowl combine the LSA, baking powder, cinnamon, sugar and salt
3. Make a well in the dry mix and add in the beaten eggs, water and olive oil
4. Stir together the wet and dry ingredients then stir in blueberries
5. Pour the batter into a greased muffin pan
6. Bake at 180° for 20-25 minutes until firm and lightly golden
7. Allow to coolTeganhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00377235105331992504noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1700767634515879490.post-28155749473092385172013-01-11T07:12:00.001+11:002013-01-11T07:18:38.979+11:00Still Here! I haven't run away, I'm still here.

Well, I've been back at it for a week now and so far so good. Haven't had any major blow outs <strike>yet</strike>. I'm enjoying the exercise and the food at the moment, not bored (hopefully that won't be a problem).

I weighed myself today to see how I'm going, and yay, I've lost 1 kg! Woo!

Here's a pic of today's breakfast, a bowl of Weetbix Choc Malt Crunch.

The original ingredients were...
1/2 banana
2 egg whites
1 scoop of protein powder (vanilla)
1/2 tbsp ground flax seeds
1 teaspoon of cinnamon

I have been eating it for breakfast for the last couple of mornings and adapted the recipe to suit what I have in my pantry.

I've used Nature's Way unflavoured instant protein powder and, instead of straight ground flax seed I've used Naturefirst Premium Breakfast Booster - LSA mix. Which is ground linseed, sunflower seeds and almonds.

To make sure the mix is nice and smooth, that the banana is fully mashed I mix everything up with the Tupperware Smooth Chopper.

<img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-fqz7Pr2v6U8/UOnyQBul2YI/AAAAAAAAAUg/RcRFMGcmihM/%25255BUNSET%25255D.jpg width="290" height="234"/>

I serve mine topped with a pile of chopped fruit. Yum!

<img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-cmX1C9jo16k/UOnzZux_nxI/AAAAAAAAAUw/Kz_j7_VKUKI/%25255BUNSET%25255D.jpg width="320" height="320"/>

The mix makes just enough for one. It's tasty and filling and a great high protein alternative to the poached eggs I was eating every day (and getting really bored of). Teganhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00377235105331992504noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1700767634515879490.post-22732496480696121552013-01-04T07:58:00.001+11:002013-01-04T08:13:22.289+11:00I'm Back! Again... Well, it's 2013 and here I am again.
After around 12 months off the weight loss wagon I'm feeling motivated again. (it's amazing how clothes shopping has that affect...!)
While I've been away I've gained a shocking 12 kilos. Wow, working that number out is REALLY depressing! (no wonder none of my clothes fit!)
But I'm here to be positive, no point dwelling on the negative. It won't get me any where.
I am going to make positive changes and choices this year. I am going to lose weight.
I started back on the path to weight loss last we, and I am happy to say, that as of this morning I have already lost half a kilo, I currently weigh 99.2 kgs.
So, here I go, I will lose weight this year. And I will keep it off. Teganhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00377235105331992504noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1700767634515879490.post-18818861027362807462012-01-13T09:58:00.000+11:002012-01-13T09:58:54.096+11:00Almost... But not quite...So, yesterday was my Wii Fit goal day... And well, I didn't quite get there, I was aiming for 87 kgs...

I was only 600g off, at 87.6 kgs. Pretty frustrating!

I've set a new goal, to weigh 86.2 kgs by the 26th of January. I hope I can get to that one. I think I need to work on my diet more.

I'm still enjoying the Wii Fit Plus stuff, there is a lot to choose from and I can mix up daily work out which keeps it interesting.
Went down again this week, to 87.5kg.

But as I get closer to Christmas I am anticipating some weight gain... There is just SO much eating involved with this time of year...

I will try to make healthier choices and to not over do it... But I am only human!

But, I have some good news this week.

When I jumped on the scales this week they read 87.8kg.

I had been stuck at 88.8 for a while, and last week it even went up to 89 point something again... But I think that may have been because it was “that time of the month” and I was feeling really bloated.

I have been sticking to my exercise plan and very strict with my calorie budget.

But, I did have my monthly weigh and measure at Curves.

My results we pretty good.

This month I've lost:
1cm off my stomach,
1cm off my hips,
1cm off my thighs (that's all up, so 0.5 off each),
1.1kg,
0.7% body fat,
and my BMI went down 0.37.

But, I did gain 2cm on my arms, 1 cm on each. But, that (hopefully) might be muscle gain.

So, I've lost about 4 kgs since I joined Curves, not too bad.Teganhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00377235105331992504noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1700767634515879490.post-78529343269433758472011-11-24T18:18:00.003+11:002011-11-29T18:34:35.338+11:00Sorry about the lateness...Sorry about the lateness of this update, I wasn't feel my best last week. I had terrible back problems.

Mine is like the one on the left.

The pain was keeping me up at night. It was also affecting my stomach.
For some reason when my back is really, really bad I get awful stomach pains and feel nauseous.
My chiro said it might have something to do with the nerves from my spine to my abdominal muscles.

Anyway, I was in a bad way, so I wasn't able to work out and I was also pretty slack with the diet as well.

As a result I gained a little weight, only 300 grams. But it was disheartening non-the-less.

I'm feeling much better now, and am back at it, working out and eating right, so hopefully I'll have better news for the next post.Teganhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00377235105331992504noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1700767634515879490.post-12702565190009956182011-11-12T14:12:00.002+11:002011-11-12T14:14:57.502+11:00Yay!I saw 88.5 kg on the scales this week!! So happy!
I've been working really hard and eating really well.

I keeping reading online that weight loss is 30% exercise and 70% diet and in the past this is where I have let myself down, using exercise as an excuse to eat poorly, which just doesn't work.
If I'm going to put the effort in at the gym and on the treadmill I need to back that up by eating the right things.

So, this is what I am going to concentrate on for the next few weeks making sure I stick to my calorie intake and that treats are only occasional, not every day.

I don't feel like the top image,
I feel like the little fat kid,
and I am pretty sure that it also what I look like.

I'm still doing the couch to 5k on the treadmill. I got to week 3 this week and geez... It kills me.
The program is:

5 min walking warm-up
1:30 jog
1:30 walk
3 min jog
3 min walk
1:30 jog
1:30 walk
3 min jog
3 min walk
5 min cool down

The last 3 minute jog kills me, I feel like I am going to die!! So, I don't think I will be progressing until I can complete week 3 without the feeling of impending death!!

But, on a positive note, I know my heart health has improved with the jogging. I have to work MUCH harder at the gym to get my heart-rate up to the fat burning zone. Which can only be a good thing.

You can find the couch to 5k treadmill program here.Teganhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00377235105331992504noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1700767634515879490.post-79532438390035909932011-11-07T20:38:00.000+11:002011-11-07T20:38:29.366+11:00Disappointed...Well... It's been three weeks since I rebooted my weight loss program.

And well, I'm disappointed. I've been working my butt off (exercise wise) and the weight just won't budge!

This weeks weight was 89.2 kg. Not much lower than two weeks ago...

But, I have been talking to a friend (hi Sarah!) who mentioned that she found out she was anaemic and had been having a similar problem.

Once she started taking some iron tablets the weight started moving again (something to do with the oxygen levels in the blood or something, another "I'm not a scientist" moment).

I don't eat many iron rich foods, and I wouldn't be surprised if I were anaemic too. So, I've bought some iron tablets and I'm going to give them a go.

I would be delighted if at the end of this week the scales read somewhere in the 88 kg area, here's hoping!Teganhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00377235105331992504noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1700767634515879490.post-48815779560164162942011-10-31T20:48:00.000+11:002011-10-31T20:48:11.348+11:00Not much to reportNot much of a change in weight this week, I wasn't expecting much because of the big lose last week, just a couple of hundred grams.

On a different note I've been making a fitness/healthy eating/inspiration board on Pinterest. You can look at it here.

Some of the best things I've found are:

A Couch to 5k treadmill program (which I started this week)
This motivating quote "I never regret it when I do, but I always regret it when I don't". It what I think of when I'm thinking about whether I should work out or not.
This smart snacking list.
This girls weight loss website.

Hopefully when I report in next week I'll have something more exciting to post about.Teganhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00377235105331992504noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1700767634515879490.post-73165096698741086362011-10-23T17:10:00.000+11:002011-10-23T17:10:55.904+11:00Back on TrackWell, I did it. I met my first new short term goal. I lost 1 kg this week and now weigh... 89.3 kgs!! ^_^
I'm SO happy with myself! It is so good to feel like I'm making progress again!

So, here I am. I've decided to take a photograph every time I reach on of these goals, so I have a visual record of my progress.

When you're losing weight gradually, it can be difficult to notice the changes in your appearance. So I thought a photo diary of my progress would be another way of keeping motivated.

I've been working out pretty hard with this new burst of motivation. And I am beginning to notice an improvement in my level of fitness, which is pretty pleasing, and also makes me want to push myself further, to get even better.

With my new routine, I get up and do a cardio workout on the treadmill in ther morning four days a week.

I've been doing some High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). Which is workout method which improves your results in short sessions by increasing your resting metabolic rate to burn more fat.

I'm no scientist, so I don't really know how it works, all I know is that it speeds up your metabolism, which can only be a good thing, right?

What you do is combine intervals of pushing yourself to the extreme of your capability and periods of recovery. It should be done at a ratio of 2:1, I do 2 minutes of fast walking and one minute of running. So my work out plan looks like:

5 minute warm up.

HIIT for 20 minutes (running then walking at the above ratio, repeated).

5 minute cool down.

As a part of my goal to get back on the weight loss track I combine the morning work out with a visit to the gym in the afternoon five days a week.

Now that I have reached this goal, it is time to set a new one. One that I can achieve. It's better to set something that you can do, and possibly exceed, than something unattainable that will only leave you feeling disappointed.

So, I would like to lose 5 kgs and I think I should be able to do this at a rate of half a kilo a week.

I should reach this goal, of weighing less than 85 kgs, by 25/12/11 (Christmas Day!).

This may seem like a long way away, but I know I'm no always going to have big losses like I did this week, and some weeks I may slip up and gain instead of lose.

85 kgs is what I weighed when I was in high school. And here is a photo of me in a last year of high school, (I'm hoping that the beautiful velour coat will distract you from the fact that I am about to eat that packet of chips...)

I would be great to be that size again (and eventually smaller). Lets hope I meet this goal!!
Teganhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00377235105331992504noreply@blogger.com1
